fuel in the hearth

Holly is an very good wood fuel

Splitting into logs can sometimes ber tricky due to knots, and makes small logs

Ignites fairly easily, and makes perfect start up kindling with a hand axe

Does not spark

Only smokes when wet, and even then only minimally

heat quality?

Quite good for heat and due to low water content, slow burning, and can be burned dry or green. Holly serves a beautiful changing colour flame that goes from oranges to blues to greens, back to oranges, quite mesmerizing.

Sometimes an earthy fragrance when burning
